It's all over for mechanical traversing transmissions: M1 can now solve the winding problem!
Manufacturers and users of winding machines and rewinders are familiar with the problem: the bigger the roll becomes, the greater the danger that the rolls wound will tip over to one side, will run diagonally or that the material will be wound unevenly.
For instance, an experienced manufacturer of rewinders and winding machines intended to increase the roll diameter to half a metre on a machine for cutting and winding Velcro seals. Until now, these machines were equipped with a mechanical traversing transmission. However, this mechanism could no longer do justice to the demands of the larger roll diameter: the regular linear traversing led to such varied tensions at the turning points that it was not possible to wind a roll evenly. The particular conditions involved with the material (Velcro seals in narrow strips of up to 15 mm) made the arrangement even more difficult because the tension changed as the roll diameter increased.
